SIDNEY, Neb. - Sidney Middle School seventh grader Joyce Brauer won a free yearlong membership to the Cheyenne County Community Center through a drawing conducted by the Sidney Raider Athletic Booster Club.
The Center donated the annual membership to the Booster Club as part of its efforts to support Sidney student-athletes and encourage young people to remain active.
Students who purchased a $25 Student Membership to the Booster Club were entered into the drawing for the membership. Brauer was selected as this year's winner.
Brauer is already putting in plenty of miles this fall as a member of the Sidney Middle School cross-country team.
The Sidney Raider Athletic Booster Club is made up of parents, staff, alumni and supporters of Sidney Public Schools. The organization supports 11 high school sports programs and six junior high sports programs through fundraising, equipment purchases, facility improvements, athlete recognition and other activities.
The Booster Club also works to encourage student participation in athletics and community support for Sidney athletic programs.
The Cheyenne County Community Center donated the membership as an extension of its mission to provide opportunities for local youth to stay active and develop healthy habits.
The annual membership gives Brauer access to The Center's fitness and recreation opportunities throughout the coming year.
